Domaines Schlumberger Riesling Les Princes Abbes, Alsace 2016, France

  • AWARD: Drinks Business Global Masters - Silver Medal. "Slightly honeyed nose, attractive, with seemingly some botrytised fruit characters. Palate dry and intense acidity, with some elastic band/petrol TDN, waxy slightly honeyed notes, oily at core, fresh lemon finish. Not pure Clare valley style of others, more Alsace. Chalky finish. Complex, and best Riesling so far of the category."

    Producer: Domaines Schlumberger

    Region/Appellation: Alsace
    Country Hierarchy: France

    Grape/Blend: 100% Riesling

Food Suggestion: Gravlax mackerel, salmon, green apple and toasted pine nuts carpaccio, a smoked trout fillet with cucumber and mashed avocado or a goat's milk cheese such as the briquette du Forez

Wine Style: White - Green and Flinty

    Alcohol Content: 12.52%

    Tasting Notes:

Pale yellow with green hues. Aromas of citrus fruits, lemon and a fine touch of spice and ginger which follow to the palate. Lime, yuzu zest and white flowers. This wine is lively, medium-bodied with an attractive underlying mineral touch.
